Graduation!

What? No, I’m not a week late. Inconceivable!

Except that, yeah, I am. I graduated one week ago from Oklahoma City University and got my BFA in Acting. I’m terribly sorry about not updating like I promised I would but things have been happening. Cool things.

Remember that movie I auditioned for but didn’t get cast it? Well it’s all okay because I’ve been working on it as a Production Assistant! It’s been amazing, I’ve learned a ton and I’ve been working with actors that I really respect. I’ve also made friends with a lot of cool people on the production side of things.

I would go on and on about it but I signed a contract so I won’t release any details. It’s just a major motion picture filming in OKC. So I’m sticking around the city for a bit longer. Oh! And I was talking to the 2nd Assistant Director about submitting a headshot to be an extra and he said not to worry about that and just stuck me in himself, so I’m going to be an extra. Five to ten seconds of screentime! It’s gonna be great.

After it wraps on the 26th I’ll be coming back to Texas to spend some time with my family before flying off to L.A. to visit my boyfriend and look around the city. (He left last Sunday and drove the whole way and I miss him terribly. And my dog. He took my dog. So rude.) I’ll be helping him drive up to Seattle where he is moving to start his career in theatre (He plans to direct) and then I’ll spend the rest of the summer home in Texas submitting for short films and hopefully building up my resume.

And then at the end of the summer I’m moving out to Los Angeles. AAAAAUUUUGGGGHH!

It’s going to be pretty fantastic.

In the meantime I plan to blog every day, and if I don’t post something, give me shit about it. I need to be writing more.

Thanks for waiting around!

I’m still around.

Well I’ve certainly done a great job keeping this site up to date, haven’t I?

It’s strange. When I deleted all of the old I imagined that this would really start when I graduated, but then I couldn’t just leave it blank! And then I… left it blank.

I’ll be trying to post more, but I hope to have daily updates after May 11, the day of graduation.

Currently I’m four – ish weeks out. I may have a potential interview with an agent who works with the OKC/ Dallas area, and I was initiated into the Kappa Sigma fraternity. Which is awesome.

Also Bioshock Infinite. Possibly the best game I’ve ever played. I was just a tad bit distracted. But it is really fantastic, if you’ve ever wanted to try video games go out and buy this one. It has a story that I’d always dreamed of writing done in ways that I could never imagine. A fantastic experience and achievement.

Other than that I’m keeping my writing up through e-mails with my friend Taylor. I write a scene, then he writes a scene, and we have absolutely no idea where any of it is going. So it’s going to be a mess.

A beautiful beautiful mess.

See you soon,

Happy Easter!

A whole bunch of stuff has happened this weekend, and it’s been great!

I opened and closed the show I was in, Almost an Evening written by Ethan Coen. It’s a play consisting of three short plays. Because this was a student directed show performing at 10:30 in the evening we only did two of them. The first and the third, called, “Waiting,” and, “Debate.” In the first play I played Mr. Nelson, a man waiting in Purgatory to go to Heaven. And in the other I played ‘Young Man.” A man who goes to see a play with his girlfriend. She likes it, he doesn’t. A debate occurs. It’s very abstract and full of absurdest comedy.

The audiences loved it and I had a blast. Now I only have one more show left before I graduate from Oklahoma City University, Whee!

Also in University news, I joined a Fraternity. “WHAAAT?” you’re all asking, “Aren’t you, like, graduating in 41 days?” Yes. Yes I am. But let me tell you a story. My freshman year I lived across from the Kappa Sigma Fraternity House. I decided that I would NOT join because, quite frankly, they were loud and I wanted my sleep. (Also I was very nervous about being gay and joining a fraternity.)

Well I ended up becoming friends with quite a few guys who joined and they asked me if I would ever rush the fraternity. I said, as a joke, “I will rush my second semester senior year.” Well senior year rolled around and they held me to it. I’ve spent the last two months going through pledgeship, studying the history of the fraternity and learning all about it.

Last night I was initiated into Kappa Sigma and I can honestly say that I sincerely regret not rushing and joining sooner. I have had a wonderful time meeting all of these people who are not actors and getting closer to them. If I could do anything in college differently, I would rush Kappa Sigma my freshman year.

Also, in acting news, I received an e-mail from the people casting that movie I talked about. I still don’t have an audition but they did ask me about myself and my skills. Fingers crossed, keep thinking about me. I’d love to get a chance to read for this part.

Like, really, it’s been driving me nuts all day. My boyfriend had to take away my phone so I would stop checking my email.

I’d really really really like to read for these people. I respect them a ton.

Well that’s been my week. How have you all been doing? Keep me up to date on your lives.

I love you all, see you tomorrow. Or whenever I decide to blog again.

Inconsistent!

Getting Started

Today I applied to audition for my first major film. I thought that sending the application would relieve the stress. NOPE. Now the waiting begins. It’s casting and shooting here in Oklahoma City, which is awesome. I’m just glad to have actually submitted something. Now that, ‘first step’ never has to be done again!

Though I would love it if I got to audition. There are some pretty cool people attached to this project and I’d love just to read for them.

Super short blog today. I’ve got a meeting tonight at 8 and then rehearsal at 10:30.

On the bright side:

45 DAYS UNTIL GRADUATION.

And then, who knows?

It’s good to be back.

Before I deleted The Blog That Once Was I was getting, on average, 100+ viewers a day. Most of those visitors were finding my blog through google image search and clicking through images that I had posted on my blog but that were not mine to begin with.

Yesterday I had eight visitors, which is the most I’ve had in a month. And those eight visitors meant more to me than any of the visitors I received in the past.

Thank you all so much for sticking around, for discovering this blog, and for bothering to read it.

I’m going to try and do a post a day for a while, but no promises. At least, not until May 11 because that is when I will finally be graduating college and getting my BFA degree! In Acting!

WHOOOOOOOP!

Until then I’ve still got to make sure I pass everything.

Why do they make acting majors take Public Speaking?

D for Diploma!

Once Upon A Time

There was a boy named Billy who lived on the internet. He also lived in Oklahoma but that time was quickly coming to an end, for which he was very grateful. He had a blog once, and it grew and grew and grew. But Billy grew dissatisfied with it, especially with some of the more vulgar posts at the beginning and the highly opinionated ones in the middle.

So after fighting many an inner demon, Billy defeated the blog, and trapped it forever on his laptop as a PDF file where it can still be viewed to this day.

And from the ashes of that blog sprung this one! The one that you are reading right now! With the same title! He’s still debating, at this time, whether he should change the title or not. But he doesn’t think that that is all important.

His new blog would be different. It would be for him, almost like a diary. He would share his thoughts and feelings and explore things that inspire him.

So please join him as he gets closer to graduation prepares to move to L.A. to launch his acting career. And enjoy watching this blog blossom and grow all over again.

Let’s get started.
